Climbing Racing in Turkey
Rally cross and climbing racing are short-term
racings organized mostly under a lower budget in 3 categories, and
are mainly suitable to amateurs where the driver is not assisted
by a co-pilot. In addition to the homologated automobiles that are
qualified for these kind of rallies, the old racing cars of which
homologations have expired are also qualified for taking part in
such racing contests within Category 3 in accordance with the regulations
pertaining to Group H.
TURKEY CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIP
The climbing racings are organizations carried
out on asphalt covered racing tracks of which the overall length
is at least 10 km, the difference in the elevation between the start
and the finish line is 200m or 5% grade and where the automobiles
take start in 2-minute sequences in racing against time. 2 different
start lines are placed in the courses shorter than 10 km. Prior
to the start of the contest, along with a time recording system,
a formal training start is allowed. The contestant that performed
within the shortest time gets to be selected as the first one within
its category.
CATEGORIES IN CLIMBING RACING
1st Category :
Turing automobiles (Kit cars and WRC's that are qualified for racing
in Rallies within Group A or only 4x4 and turbo Group N automobiles)
2nd Category :
Mass Production Automobiles (the automobiles in Group N, 2WD only,
naturally aspirated and with engine displacements up to 2 liters)
3rd Category :
Automobiles complying with the TOMSFED National Group H regulations.
SPECIFICATIONS OF GRUP H AUTOMOBILES
These are automobiles of which the homologations
were expired as of the latest homologation certification (in case
of turbo engines, the turbo clamp shall be at least 34 mm). They
are non-homologated, manufactured locally or abroad, carry a production
capacity of 2500 pcs/year and are conformed to the Group N specifications.
Automobiles with valid homologations are not qualified to enter
such races. Group H automobiles older than 15 years are subject
to the chassis approval issued by the authorized organizations certified
by TOMSFED. The board of racing commission is authorized to disqualify
those automobiles that do not prove to be safe, due to excessive
corrosion, even if they are not older than 15 years. Group H automobiles
are qualified to participate in all local rallies except for rally-cross
and climbing racing.
